About Us
House of Melissa is the brainchild of the folk behind the STB award-winning Sundowner Nature Experience Centre. With the success of our food and nature-based activities at Siglap such as the Pizza-Making Experience and flagship Rooftop Farm Experience, the call in 2024 to expand to a second site at Changi Village was too good to resist. And the spacious colonial setting the perfect canvas to express our ideas on a larger scale.
We are genuinely excited to offer you an expanded playground at Changi V. We have also dovetailed with our sister brand, Ninja Kayakers Foilers, to offer unique kayak tours right out of the House (and luxurious chill-time after).
The Unexpected Group also offers Hospitality consultancy, and Landscaping + Arboriculture services. For those looking further afield, you are warmly welcome at Helium, Singapore's only yacht with jetboard and efoil classes on board - run by our adventure partner, Tribe Watersports.
FAQs
1. Is this chalet part of Civil Service Club?
Yes, we are tenants of CSC Changi, but offer more than the neighbouring chalets, and have upgraded what was Chalet F into a luxurious boutique farm stay.
Farm stays include breakfast and other F&B options (Make pizza with us!). Members of CSC and Public Service Officers get discounted rates when booking with us. Our guests also enjoy complimentary access to CSC's swimming pool and playground, as well as other paid facilities.
2. What can I do at House of Melissa?
Most staycations in town offer just a hotel room and swimming pool. 'Experiences' are limited to the usual spa / massage, or an open-top bus tour. Boring!
HOM offers something totally different: Bespoke Farm & F&B experiences and Team-bonding activities (Treasure Hunt is so much fun), run by the award-winning Sundowner. We also do Ghost Walks and Kayaking Tours to nearby Changi Creek or Pulau Ubin. Enjoy an Ice Bath after! You can also rent a BBQ pit or pizza oven from us and rock your own party.
3. Can I invite all my friends for a party and stay over?
The Changi chalets are famous for hosting large gatherings, but we offer something different by going for quality over quantity.
Our rates are for up to 4 staying guests across 2 bedrooms. HOM sleeps up to 9 guests across 3 bedrooms, with additional guests topping up $50 per guest per night, for their bed and breakfast.
You are free to organise a party during your stay, with up to 10 invited attendees free-of-charge. For parties larger than 10 additional attendees, $150 - $250 is payable. (This is to cover increased utilities, wear and tear, and cleaning fees.)
4. Changi very far leh...
Wah lau eh... If you drove 30 mins to your destination in Australia, it's just a stone's throw away mate! Ok, the journey east may take longer than to Suntec City, but trust us... the view and experience is worth it. Ok, don't trust us; read our guests reviews here.
Come on, where else can you wake up to a sea vista with not a building, road, or car in sight? And to be in a luxurious farm setting, in urbanised Singapore, is a rare and precious thing.
5. Can I cook there? I used to stay at these chalets when younger and cooked all our meals. Also BBQ!
We don't have a kitchen like the other chalets, but do provide a mini oven for some light cooking -- done at the outdoors gazebo. We also supply a kettle and mini toaster + frying pan to prepare your DIY breakfast (eggs and brioche with spreads). There are also several sinks for washing up.
If you are looking to cook full meals, tbh we aren't the best place to do this -- the neighbouring chalets are a better choice. We do have portable stoves ($20) and BBQ pits for rent ($50-$80); byo food. We recommend Shiok BBQ - not the cheapest but really good.
6. Why does it cost more than the chalets?
Good things don't come cheap-- we are confident that vintage decor of the House alone is worth the price, not to mention our organic farm with free-roaming chickens, complimentary bicycles, included DIY breakfast, and many other delightful things you only get when you stay with us. Oh ya, we leave a complimentary serving of gin out too, for all you alcoholics.
7a. Child / Elderly-friendly?
Certainly, in fact we designed this place with young families in mind, with grain packets to feed the poultry, a kid's room with loft bed, and garden route to explore nature safely. Our unit is also wheelchair accessible.
7b. Pet-friendly?
Yes, HOM is perfect for this with pet beds provided, and lots of space for your pets to explore! As we have poultry, please leash all dogs when outdoors. Also note we have bees on the premises. Pets are charged at $70 per pet. While we welcome all fur kids, large dogs may be a concern - do let us know in advance.
8. Can I not stay overnight and just use the place for an event?
Yes, we have hosted many birthdays, venue rentals, and corporate retreats. The House fits 50 indoors and 100 outdoors. We can also do weddings. See here for our packages. You may even opt to stay the night after your event at a reduced price!
9. For Farm stays, what is your cancellation policy?
Strictly no refunds, but if you want to postpone we can accommodate, with charges applied. Please see here.
10. Can I come visit just to look-see?
We open by appointment only, but please don't just walk in as the House may be occupied by guests at any time. You may see our picture gallery here. If you are planning an event, do text us at 92495400 to arrange for a viewing and discussion.

Cancellation / Refunds
We do not provide any refunds once payment has been made.
You may consider to postpone your reservation:
< 14 days notice: No postponements allowed
< 30 days: 75% of reservation value to be paid for new booking
< 60 days: 50% of reservation value to be paid for new booking
> 60 days: 10% of reservation value to be paid for new booking
Our Mgmt decision is final and no appeal shall be entertained.

Security Deposit
$200 refundable, collected upon check-in, either in cash (in-person) or via credit card (remotely). Forfeit applies for any damages such as breakages, food stains, dirt that require professional clean up, smoking.

Parties
Please let us know if you will be organising a party during your stay.
<10 pax: FOC, >10 pax: $150, >25 pax: $250 . If you do not inform us beforehand, security deposit will be forfeited.

Pet Policy
House of Melissa welcomes pets. Owners are required to 1) clean up after their pets and 2) keep pets off the bed. A small vacuum cleaner and pet bed will be provided f.o.c.. A charge of $70 + GST applies per pet. As we have poultry outside, all dogs must strictly be leased at all times. House of Melissa reserves the right to not allow certain pets based on size / smell / temperament. Pets brought in without prior information will result in forfeiture of the security deposit.

All reservations made are for personal stays only, and not for resale or profit. If you are organising a corporate event, please see here.

CMI
House of Melissa reserves the right to change the booking, provide alternatives, or provide a refund if the booking cannot happen due to unforeseen circumstances.

Smoking
Strictly no smoking inside the property. Any smoking will result in the forfeiture of the security deposit. Vaping is illegal and any usage will result in a similar forfeiture.

For Event Bookings, if you wish to drop the number of attendees and inform us:
a. >3 days (72 hrs) before the event: Full refunds can be made only for those who drop out. If you wish to cancel the whole event after paying, we can refund 50% only.
b. Within 2 days (48 hrs) of the event: Full refunds can be made for up to 10% variation of the total number booked. E.g. if booking was for 20 pax, refund can be done for up to 2 pax only.
c. Only on the day (within 24 hrs): No refunds, no postponements. As we would have already prepared our staffing and material accordingly.

Liabilities
House of Melissa shall not be responsible for any injuries sustained through careless or improper use of the facilities. The property has active hives of Asian honeybees. Please avoid if you have any allergies. -
Keycards
Losses are chargeable at $20 each.

Security
For your safety, there are 3 x CCTV cameras monitoring the external of the property, but none inside.

GST
All prices are subject to 9% GST for GST-registered entities paid to our GST-registered account. Individuals or GST-registered entities do not pay the 9% by paying to our non GST-registered account.
When you make a booking or reservation with us, you freely agree to the above T&Cs. Please do not make a booking if you do not agree with any of the T&Cs above. We request that you please do not ask us to alter the policies, as we rely on these policies to survive as a small business.
