About
Enter into the 1930s residence of British naturalist, Melissa Evelin*. A celebrated explorer and chef of her time, this seaside house was her weekend escape and favourite spot in Singapore, where she worked in the spice plantation business.

She raised a farm with chickens and bees, experimented with local fermentation, and was famous for throwing dinner parties for the Changi Village neighborhood.

However in September 1932, she mysteriously disappeared while exploring the nearby mangroves of Pulau Ubin, and was never heard from again.

Her house was shuttered, possessions left intact, and forgotten for 90 years until in 2024, a conservation project uncovered the colonial house hidden away in a corner of Netheravon Road.

Step into House of Melissa by The Sundowner today, and pick up from where she left off: Live the farm life she led; explore the nearby mangroves she did; or simply relax and enjoy the bucolic surrounds of Changi Village.

** Melissa Evelin is a fictional character. Did you know Melissa is Latin for 'honeybee', and Evelin means 'source of life'!

What you can do here

Hotel Stays
We think Changi Village is simply the prettiest little spot on this island, and fell in love when the chalet became available to us. We invite you to share the magic of this little corner of Singapore with a range of accommodation options.

Choose from Daycation, Fuss-Free, or Full-board options. The House's highlight is our Full-Board programme: Instead of the usual spa packages or city tours, we offer totally unique farm- and sea-based experiences to occupy your full stay with us. All your meals will also come from and reflect the farm life rarely seen in Singapore.

Farm & Food Experiences
House of Melissa is run by the award-winning Sundowner Nature Experience Centre, and at Changi you can do any of the experiences already offered at Siglap, including our best-selling Pizza-Making Experience and beloved Honeybee Encounter.
Exclusive to House of Melissa, come and learn the concepts of Permaculture inc chicken-rearing, or brew beer and ferment foods like kombucha and miso.

Our Kill Your Own Dinner concept dares you to (respectfully) dispatch marine livestock, and forage from our food forest. Our chef will then whip it up for a true farm-to-table private dining experience!

Explorations on Water
With our location on the Ubin straits, we offer private boat tours around the maritime neighbourhood. Bump over water with our boatman to explore the kelongs and ex-prawn farms of Ubin!

Or embark on an adventurous kayak expedition either to Ubin or the nearby Changi Creek, where you can do a mangrove clean-up.
